Melva Shar’ree Grimmett

HUNTINGTON- Melva Shar’ree Grimmett, a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great- Grandmother and proud US Army Veteran passed away unexpectedly January 27, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Shar’ree was born on January 11, 1949, to Daniel and Frances LeRoy and was raised in Huntington, Utah. She was the first of six children and spent her childhood with her brothers who meant the world to her.

Shar’ree served as a Private First-Class Officer in the United States Army, Women’s Army Corps from June 30, 1967 – April 21, 1969. She had met Wayne Grimmett while on active duty, later married and had two children Vincent Wayne Grimmett and Daniel (Boonie) Grimmett. She was blessed to have the most loving and supportive family; her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the light of her life. She had an open-door policy, everyone who came into her life would turn into family and she cherished every single one of them.

Shar’ree was instrumental in the success of the world-famous Food Ranch Bakery. When her brother, Drew, opened the store in 1981 he depended on Shar’ree to run and manage the bakery and hot deli. Her invention of the newspaper famous Butterfinger Donut was the highlight of her bakery career. She had a long career there and made lifelong friends and many acquaintances. Her spicy attitude and salsa made her a legendary fixture and will be missed by many.

Shar’ree is survived by her Son; Daniel Grimmett; Grandchildren Shandalin Grimmett, Dillion Grimmett, Porsha Grimmett, Makiya Grimmett and Jaycee Grimmett; Great Grandson Luca Brooks Grimmett. Siblings Drew (Valerie) LeRoy, Greg (Donna) LeRoy, Kelly (Ronda) LeRoy, Fred (Annette) LeRoy, Beth (Max) Lopan and many loving nieces, nephews and family friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; Daniel LeRoy, Sam and Frances (LeRoy) Handley, Husband; Wayne Grimmett, Son; Vincent Wayne Grimmett and Brother; Jimmy LeRoy.

Memorial Service will be held February 5, 2022, 11:00 a.m at Heritage Funeral Home located at 620 N Main St, Huntington, UT where the family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m with a light lunch following.
